Anna Hicks is Head of Department for Furniture and Decorative Arts department at Bonhams in Los Angeles, having joined in 2018. Her responsibilities include securing and cataloguing consignments for Bonhams furniture and decorative arts sales, as well as providing fair market value and insurance-related appraisals. She also aids in creating and maintaining relationships with collectors and dealers throughout the country.
Anna has over 18 years of experience in the furniture and decorative arts specialty. She began her career at Sotheby's, London, and in 2007 moved to Doyle Auctioneers & Appraisers, New York, where she held several positions including Vice President and Specialist. While in New York, she sourced and catalogued property for multiple furniture and decorative arts sales as well as conducting appraisals for estate tax purposes. She worked closely with the Trusts & Estates department to cultivate and maintain relationships with prominent lawyers and collecting intuitions. Her highlights in New York included spearheading numerous successful auctions, including single-owner collections and celebrity sales.
Anna received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Texas, Austin, where she focused on early European paintings. After an internship at a Dallas-based auction house, she realised her love for the decorative arts and went on to receive her Master of Fine Arts degree from Sotheby's Institute of Art, London, with a focus on 18th and 19th century furniture and decorative art. She is a certified member of the Appraisers Association of America.
