Chen Xie

Chen Xie is a Specialist for Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art at Bonhams New Bond Street in London.

After gaining a BA in History, Chen studied an MA in Ancient Chinese History at the University of Minzu, China, and an MLitt in Art History: Collecting and Collections at the University of Glasgow. In 2020, she was awarded with a PhD by the University of Birmingham. Her research examined the social and political uses of calligraphy at the Tang courts, investigating the configuration of Tang court society through the prism of calligraphy.

Before joining Bonhams in 2022, Chen worked as a Curator at Shenzhen Museum in China and a Teaching Fellow at the University of Edinburgh in the UK. She has written for journals and magazines including International Sinology, Monumenta Serica – Journal of Oriental Studies, China Art Weekly and China Collections.
