
Isabel Norsten
Isabel Norsten is an Associate Specialist and Head of Sale for Bonhams' iconic Made in California: Contemporary Art auction. Her areas of expertise span from post-modern American Art to emerging Contemporary Art, with a particular interest in Pictures Generation, Light and Space Movement, and artists with histories in Northern and Southern California.
Since joining Bonhams, Isabel has held multiple positions in the company including as a Cataloguer for the department before being promoted to her current role in 2022 where she assists clients with buying and selling in auctions locally and globally. She is also a member of Bonhams Junior Management Team.
Isabel has been involved in several exceptional sales at Bonhams including when she collaboratively led the Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made in California sale which saw the record price for a painting by John Register, Late Afternoon Light. Isabel further supported the successful sale of Robert Colescott's superlative painting Miss Liberty along with Raimonds Staprans' painting Morning Mist which set a new auction record for the artist at that time.
Before joining Bonhams, Isabel worked in the non-profit art sector. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Art History from Occidental College where she was the recipient of a Mellon Foundation grant and awarded distinction for her scholarship on the work of artist Louise Lawler. She is also a published arts writer.
