Andrew Huber

Andrew Huber is Head of Department for 20th/21st Century Art in New York. He is responsible for overseeing the department's strategy as well as securing consignments for sale across Bonhams' global network.

Since joining Bonhams in 2019, Andrew has been a key member of the New York team that has repeatedly set new record sale totals year on year. Heplayed a crucial role in the record-breaking collection of previously unseen early works by Yayoi Kusama from the collection of the late Dr Teruo Hirose ($15.2 million). As Head of Sale for the biannual Evening Sale, Andrew oversaw the department's highest ever various-owner sale total in May 2022, and combined sale total in November 2022. These auctions saw new world record prices for Martin Wong ($1,260,375), Kenny Scharf ($983,175), and for a Lynne Drexler work on paper ($208,275).

Beyond bringing in key consignments, Andrew's creativity and keen market sense led him to arrange the successful single-lot auction of Ernie Barnes' Solid Rock Congregation ($1,620,375) in September 2022.

Prior to assuming Head of Sale duties, Andrew created the department's now-robust mid-season sale programme in 2019 and oversaw the shift to an online sale strategy with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Highlights over that period include the white-glove Master of Metals: The Collection of Dick Polich auction, and a rediscovered James Rosenquist Nails painting.

With over a decade of experience, Andrew has held specialist and leadership positions at Freeman's in Philadelphia and Christie's in New York. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing & Management from Boston College, and a Master's degree in Art History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he serves on the department's board of advisors.
