Catherine King

Catherine King is Head of Sale for Bonhams' Modern British & Irish Art department in Knightsbridge, London. She oversees the saleroom's three Modern British and Irish Art sales a year. Her areas of particular interest include the Bloomsbury artists and the Camden Town Group. She is also a qualified auctioneer and takes sales across a variety of departments.

In her role as Head of Sale, Catherine has brought to auction one of the most impressive paintings by David Shepherd, Aerial View of Westminster, which achieved £111,180 in July 2022. She also handled the sale of the estate of the late artist Fred Yates, achieving a 100% sold rate to date.

Catherine also contributes to the Modern British & Irish Art department's themed auctions, including Blazing a Trail: Modern British Women. She worked very closely on British. Cool., a celebration of the best of British creativity across departments, bringing together fine art, prints and multiples, fashion, cars, popular culture, design, ceramics and photography.
