Yao Yao

Yao Yao is Director for Private Clients of Greater China and Senior Specialist in Modern and Contemporary Art at Bonhams. Her areas of expertise include Asian modern and contemporary art and post-war and contemporary art.

Yao is based in London and travels extensively to Asia, Europe and America for international client development for Bonhams' contemporary art sales. Since joining Bonhams in 2015, she has significantly expanded the Post-War & Contemporary Art department's Asian client base and brought top bidders to several star lots at global auctions. Recent examples include a masterwork by Keith Haring in 2019 ($4,220,075) and a dazzling wire sculpture by Ruth Asawa in 2020 ($2,180,075).

Born in Beijing, Yao has a strong knowledge of the cultures in both Asia and the West, and has cultivated trusted relationships with top Asian clients with her expertise. Before Bonhams, Yao worked for several years at Christie's and Poly Auctions in Asia. She moved to London in 2014 and graduated from a leading art institute in London in 2015.

Yao is fluent in Mandarin and English.
