Edward Luper

Edward Luper is Specialist for Chinese Works of Art at Bonhams New Bond Street in London. His areas of expertise include jades, porcelain, cloisonné enamel, painting, furniture and bronzes.

Before joining Bonhams in 2015, Edward studied a Bachelor's degree in Modern and Classical Chinese at SOAS University of London, and a Masters and Doctorate in Chinese History and Literature from Oxford University. His thesis focused on the Ming dynasty painter and poet Xu Wei (1521-1593).

Edward regularly writes about Asian art and has been published in Arts of Asia magazine, Ming Studies Journal and The Loyal Friend, an organization aimed at bringing Asian art to a broader audience. He has lectured at SOAS, Oxford University, the Oriental Ceramic Society and Asian Art Week Hong Kong. He is also an artist and illustrator and has created covers for Voice and Verse poetry magazine in Hong Kong.

Edward is fluent in Mandarin and English.
