Charlie Thomas

Charlie Thomas is the UK Group Director for House Sales and Private & Iconic Collections, Furniture, Works of Art and Carpets at Bonhams, based in London. His areas of expertise include 18th and 19th century English and Continental furniture, with a special interest in 18th century vernacular furniture.

Since joining the department in 2014, Charlie has overseen a succession of high-profile, single-owner collection auctions, many of which achieved 100% sell-through rates. Among his exceptional sales are The Savoy Collection; the contents of Lord Glenconner's St Lucian property, Trelissick House, Count and Countess Martignone's Milanese and Genoese properties and Nicky Haslam's hunting lodge; the property of Lord Harlech; the estate of Jackie Collins; the Walid Juffali Collection; and most recently, the Personal Collection of Sir Michael Caine in 2022. Charlie also played a key role in the cataloguing and sale of the highly successful Owston Collection in Sydney, Australia.

Charlie started in Bonhams Furniture & Works of Art department in 2002, becoming Head of Department in 2006. He is a senior auctioneer at Bonhams and has taken auctions across four continents. Charlie is also on the board of trustees for the Furniture History Society.
