Jean Ghika

Jean Ghika is Bonhams Global Director of Jewelry. Based in London, she oversees all jewelry auctions in the UK, Europe, America, Hong Kong and Australia.

Under Jean's leadership, the London Jewelry department has been the market leader in the UK for over ten consecutive years. She has brought many record-breaking jewels to auction in her three-decade career at Bonhams, including The Hope Spinel (£962,500), a 5.30 carat fancy deep-blue diamond ring (£6.2 million) and an exceedingly rare 5.03 carat Fancy Pink diamond (£2.28 million). In 2006, she curated the first auction dedicated to the work of Andrew Grima.

Jean has also overseen numerous high-profile, international jewelry auctions, from Dame Joan Collins' jewels in London to The Lauren Bacall Collection in New York and Jackie Collins' collection in Los Angeles.

Jean's areas of expertise span colored diamonds and precious stones to 18th, 19th and 20th century jewelry. She has a particular interest in British jewelers from the 1960-70s and for 18th and 19th century Indian jewelry.

Recognized as one of the world's leading jewelry experts, Jean is a regular industry commentator in the press and is frequently interviewed for both TV and radio.
