Fredric Backlar

Fredric Backlar joined Bonhams in 2009 and is the Director of the African, Oceanic & Pre-Columbian Art Department. Starting out at Sotheby's in 1991, Fred has over 30 years of auction experience.

Since joining Bonhams, Fred has overseen the growth of the department and has brought many important collections to auction, including The Fern & Leon Wallace Collection; The Scott & Stuart Gentling Collection of Pre-Columbian Art; The Eric Tulman Collection of Hawaiian Art; The Graham Beck Collection of Headrests; and recently, The Robert & Nancy Nooter Collection.

Fred received both his Bachelor's degree in Art History and his Masters degree in Business from UCLA.
