F.P. Journe, Patek Philippe and Cartier are Highlights at Bonhams Last Fine Watches Sale of 2024

London - Bonhams presented the anticipated Bond Street Fine Watches sale on 12 December. The top lot was a F.P. Journe, Chronomètre à Résonance, circa 2021. The platinum manual wind dualtime wristwatch with dual escapements, power reserve and hack feature for seconds, sold for £140,100 against a pre-sale estimate of £100,000-150,000.

The 57-lot live sale featured a plethora of timepieces showcasing notable designs from desirable names including Rolex, Jaeger LeCoultre, Cartier, Patek Philippe, Breguet, F.P. Journe, Audemars Piguet, Piaget and Omega.

The sale made a total of £1,612,126 with 88% sold by lot and 91% sold by value.

Another notable lot was a Cartier Crash, reference 2463, circa 2001. The rare and unusual 18K rose gold manual wind wristwatch with diamond set case, silvered dial and grey satin Cartier strap, sold for £114,700, double its pre-sale estimate of £40,000-60,000.

Other notable sale highlights included:

A F.P. Journe, Octa Réserve de Marche, Limited Edition No.34/99-AN, circa 2022. The fine and rare limited edition platinum automatic calendar wristwatch with power reserve, sold for £102,000 (Estimate of £80,000-120,000).

A F.P. Journe, Lune black label, platinum automatic calendar wristwatch with power reserve and moon phase, circa 2022. The rare watch sold for £95,650, more than its pre-sale estimate of £60,000-80,000.

• A very rare Patek Philippe, reference 5230G-032. The 18K white gold automatic wristwatch with world time and 24-hour indication was one of 50 produced to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the partnership with the oldest luxury retailer still operating in Taiwan - King's Sign Watch Company. The watch featured Taipei as a primary location in red and the centre of the dial is crafted in striking turquoise blue guilloché. The watch sold for £89,300, over double its pre-sale estimate of £40,000-60,000.

A Patek Philippe Nautilus, reference 5712/1A, circa 2019. The rare stainless steel automatic calendar bracelet watch with power reserve and moon phase, sold for £70,250, over its pre-sale estimate of £45,000-65,000.

A rare Patek Philippe 18K white gold automatic perpetual calendar wristwatch with moon phase, reference 5327G-001, circa 2019. Sold for £57,550, over its pre-sale estimate of £35,000-45,000.
