Bonhams Unveils New Asia Headquarters with Inaugural Autumn Sales

Hong Kong - Today, Bonhams officially unveiled its new Asia-Pacific headquarters at Six Pacific Place. Spanning 19,000 square feet across three floors, the new headquarters serves as a dynamic hub for a year-round programme of sales, exhibitions, and events. The opening was celebrated with the inaugural autumn sales, taking place from 27 November to 3 December 2024. Headlining the series is the highly celebrated Dr. Shing-Yiu Yip Collection of Classic Chinese Furniture, recognised as one of the finest private collections of Ming dynasty furniture in the world.

This strategic move underscores Bonhams' commitment to Asia, a vital market for the business, and responds to the growth of its operations in the region. The upgraded, flexible premises at Six Pacific Place feature galleries and a permanent saleroom designed to provide an elevated client experience on par with other major selling centres in London, Paris, and New York.

The sale of the renowned Dr. Shing-Yiu Yip Collection marks a significant milestone at Bonhams' new Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong, heralding an exciting lineup of art and luxury sales. Public preview starting on 23 November. Full sales calendar is available on bonhams.com.

Chabi Nouri, Global CEO of Bonhams, commented: "Opening our new Asian HQ shows our commitment to the region and just how much Asia means to Bonhams' global business. Bonhams may have just arrived at our new address, Six Pacific Place, but the company has a heritage that stretches back to 18th-century London. In 1793, we began selling only books – we now offer more than 60 categories in 14 salerooms throughout the world.

"Bonhams first established a presence in Hong Kong in 2007, and in 2014, we were the first international auction house to open our own dedicated saleroom in the region. Since then, we have not looked back – we have attracted some of the finest talents in the region and with the growth of our sales and of our teams, we needed a bigger and better space to give clients the experience they deserve."

Julia Hu, Bonhams' Managing Director, Asia, said: "We are proud to announce the opening of our new headquarters in Asia, marking a new chapter in our 200-year legacy. This new, upgraded space is a vibrant hub where the passion of collecting comes alive—inspiring treasures, innovative events, and connections with our valued clients. Our autumn sales, highlighted by the esteemed Dr. Shing-Yiu Yip Collection of Ming furniture, celebrates this occasion, and we eagerly await welcoming our clients at our new home."
