Paris – Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr will hold its dedicated Paris Jewels sale on October 23. The 174-lot live sale features a spectacular collection of signed jewels from notable houses including Cartier, Boucheron, Bulgari, Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, Buccelatti and Christian Dior. The jewellery on offer spans the decades from exceptional Art Deco pieces to contemporary designs featuring diamonds and gemstones of sapphires, rubies and emeralds.
Leading the sale is a rare and magnificent Cartier, coral, mother-of-pearl, and enamel jewelled desk clock, circa 1930. Designed as a screen clock with mother-of-pearl dial, diamond-set Roman numeral hands and a diamond fan hour hand. The clock face iss urrounded with coral bands outlined in black enamel, mounted on an onyx base, gold enamel with semi-circular onyx side supports. Offered with an estimate of €120,000-180,000.
Another notable lot is an exceptional diamond solitaire ring, circa 1935. Claw-set to the centre with a brilliant-cut diamond of VSI clarity, weighing 17.19 carats, the ring is offered with an estimate of €80,000-120,000.

Additionally, Bonhams will be allowing the prestigious jewellery institution Haute École de Joaillerie exclusive access to the jewels on 19 October, where the students will create bespoke gouache drawings of some of the notable lots, including a Cartier desk clock, Cartier stylised duck clip, Bulgari sapphire necklace and a Christian Dior fish brooch. The gouache drawings will be included with the accompanying lots at the auction."
Notable Art Deco designs include:
• A ruby and diamond brooch pendant, circa 1930. Designed as a geometric motif set with single and old brilliant-cut diamonds, highlighted with calibré-cut, pear and oval-shaped rubies of Burmese origin. Offered with an estimate of €10,000-15,000.
• An Art Deco diamond bracelet, designed as a supple band composed of articulated links, decorated throughout with geometric motifs set with old brilliant and brilliant-cut diamonds. Offered with an estimate of €8,000-12,000.
Other notable jewels include:
• A ruby and diamond necklace with a drop-shaped pendant, set with an oval-cut ruby of Burmese origin, weighing 8.17 carats, surrounded by brilliant and tapered baguette-cut diamonds. The necklace links are decorated with oval-cut rubies and radiant-cut diamonds. Offered with an estimate of €80,000-120,000.
• An emerald and diamond necklace, attributed to Charles Halet, circa late 19thCentury. Designed as graduated rows of cut-cornered step-cut emeralds, within surrounds of cushion-shaped, old brilliant, single and rose-cut diamonds, connected by links with collet-set old brilliant-cut diamonds, and openwork motifs set with lozenge-shaped emeralds and old brilliant-cut diamonds. Offered with an estimate of €30,000-50,000.
• A Bulgari sapphire necklace, designed of geometric links partially set with baguette-cut diamonds, highlighted to the centre by two oval-cut blue sapphires and an oval-cut pink sapphire of Sri Lankan origin. Offered with an estimate of €20,000-30,000.
• A Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. diamond clip, circa 1965. Designed as a trio of stylised leaves, pavé-set throughout with colourless brilliant-cut and yellow-tinted brilliant and baguette-cut diamonds, highlighted by yellow gold geometric motifs. Offered with an estimate of €20,000-30,000.
Paris Jewels includes playful and charming gem-set animal designs dating from the 1930s to the 1970s, reimagined as high jewellery. Notable lots include:
• A Cartier amethyst, turquoise and diamond stylised duck clip pendant, circa late 1950. Set with an oval-cut amethyst, turquoise cabochons and brilliant-cut diamonds. Offered with an estimate of €12,000-18,000.
• A Cartier enamel, coral and diamond 'ladybird' clip brooch, circa 1930. Designed as a ladybird, the body is composed of two 'Corallium japonicum' coral cabochons highlighted by brilliant-cut diamonds with decorated enamel head and legs. Offered with an estimate of €15,000-25,000.
• A Christian Dior obsidian, agate and diamond clip brooch, circa 1970. Designed as a stylised scorpionfish, the body is composed of yellow gold leaves, the fins set with rose-cut diamonds, the head highlighted with rough obsidian and the eye set with a tinted green agate cabochon surmounted by a radiant-cut diamond of yellow tint. Offered with an estimate of €5,000-7,000.
