London – A wonderful collection of wines from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti sold for more than £500,000 at Bonhams Fine and Rare Wine & Spirits Sale in London on Thursday 24 February. Every lot in the collection sold, making is a rare 'white glove' event. Overall, the sale made £953,515 and was 98.75% sold by value.

Highlights included:

• Two single bottles of Romanée-Conti 2000 sold for £18,300 each (estimate: £12,000-14,000).

• Six bottles of La Tâche 2003 Sold for £30,500 (estimate: £18,000-22,000).

• Six bottles of Richebourg 2006. Sold for £20,740 (estimate: £12,000-14,000).

• Three bottles each of Montrachet from 2004 and 2006 sold for £20,740 and £21,960 respectively (estimate: £13,000-15,000 per lot).
The DRC collection was part of a wider consignment of wines which made a total of £727,385. It included five vintages of Sassicaia, several in large formats – notably two double magnums of 2003 which sold for £1,708 (estimate: £1,000-1,200) and three magnums of 2001 which also achieved £1,708 (estimate: £950-1,100).

Bonhams Senior International Director of Wine, Richard Harvey M.W., said; "This significant group of Domaine Romanée-Conti wines excited a great deal of interest before the sale, resulting in spirited bidding on the day, some exceptional prices and every lot finding a new home. The white glove accolade was well deserved."

The sale also featured a fine collection of rare Cognacs and Armagnacs, including a range of AE Dor vintages. A bottle of A.E. Dor Tres Vieille Reserve No. 5 'Louis-Philippe' Grande Champagne Cognac 1840 sold for £7,320 (estimate: £5,000-6,000) and a bottle of A.E. Dor Tres Vieille Reserve No. 3 'Prince Imperial' Grande Champagne Cognac 1875 sold for £4,636 (estimate: £3,500-4,500).

A complete set of eight Courvoisier Cognac Erté Decanters with labels designed by the French-Russian artist Romain de Tirtoff (1892-1990) known as Erté, sold for £7,320 (estimate £6,000-7,000).
