IWC X HOT WHEELS™ WATCH AND MODEL CAR COLLECTOR'S SET RAISES £70,000 FOR CHARITY VIA BONHAMS

FIRST OF IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN AND HOT WHEELS™ LIMITED EDITION SETS
RACES PASTS PRE-SALE ESTIMATE

Number One of a limited-edition of just 50 IWC x Hot Wheels™ Racing Works Collector's Sets has been SOLD for £70,000, racing past its pre-sale estimate, with all proceeds being donated to children's charity the Two Bit Circus Foundation, in a timed online auction hosted by Bonhams.com which ended on 22 October.

A must for motorsport watch enthusiasts and collectors, the set is the latest collaboration between the Swiss luxury watchmaker and Hot WheelsTM, Mattel's world-leading toy brand. It includes two unique offerings: a Pilot's Watch Chronograph Edition "IWC x Hot Wheels™ Racing Works" and a Hot Wheels™ Mercedes-Benz 300SL "Racing Works Edition", presented in a bespoke metal toolbox.

In addition, the special charity lot included a virtual tour of the IWC Manufacturing base and a pair of signed driving gloves belonging to Austrian driver Laura Kraihamer, driving for the IWC Racing team at last weekend's 78th Goodwood Member's Meeting, where the set was unveiled in the presence of Laura and former Formula 1 driver, David Coulthard.

The special charity lot was the subject of a flurry of late bids in the last eight minutes of the sale, which saw the figures rapidly rise from £42,000 to £70,000, when the digital hammer fell.
