Bonhams Post-War & Contemporary Art department has established a distinct identity within the global marketplace, defined by connoisseurship, a transparent and collaborative relationship with our clients, and a reputation for offering Evening Sale treatment for every lot consigned.
Buying and selling post-war and contemporary art at Bonhams
We host 17 auctions throughout the year in London, New York, Los Angeles, Paris and Hong Kong. In addition to these sale locations, we also have specialists based in Chicago, Zurich, Brussels and San Francisco.
Our sales include international names such as Yayoi Kusama, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Alexander Calder, Gerhard Richter, Robert Colescott, Ruth Asawa, Josef Albers, Zao Wou-Ki and many others. We were the first auction house to offer works by Banksy and have an extraordinary track record for works by the London School. We hold global auction records for Tony Cragg, Fernando Botero and many others. You can contact us directly to consign an artwork or submit your item online for a free auction estimate.
You can also buy and sell through Bonhams Private Sales, which provides clients with a bespoke approach to buying and selling outside of the auction calendar. Whether you are looking for a specific artwork or to sell an object, our global team is on hand to help research, source or sell on your behalf. Contact a specialist below for more information.
Exhibitions
The Post-War & Contemporary Art department also has a rich exhibitions programme. Recent highlights include the private collection of hip-hop icon Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest on view to the public for the very first time, together with Trailblazers: California Artists at Bonhams, the museum-quality presentation Zero - Gutai - Kusama, a major Richard Lin retrospective, and Surfaces, which celebrated artists who transcended the two-dimensional format and its limitations.
