A Warren Beatty trench coat and hat from Dick Tracy
Buena Vista, 1990. Bright yellow double-breasted wool trenchcoat bearing a red-lettered Western Costume Co. label with the typed inscription, "No. 2601-1 / Dick Tracy / Chest 42 Sleeve 18." Together with a pale yellow hat with a black grosgrain band, the interior stamped, "Golden Coach / by Dobbs / Genuine Fur Felt," size 7 5/8. Accompanied by a copy of the film.
Beatty directed, produced, and starred in this adaptation of the 1930s comic created by Chester Gould. Designed to look like a comic strip come to life, the film featured striking costumes, makeup, and set design, as well as original music composed by Danny Elfman and Stephen Sondheim. It received seven Oscar® nominations, including Best Costume Design, and won three.
