Michal Rovner's "Night-16" is a striking work from her "Night" series, which delves into the primal aspects through nocturnal imagery. In this series, Rovner utilized infrared surveillance equipment to capture the elusive movements of jackals in dark fields near her home, transforming these raw, shadowy encounters into evocative visual narratives. The resulting artworks invite viewers to confront their own inner darkness and vulnerabilities, offering a profound exploration of the human condition.
Rovner's multidisciplinary practice spans video, sculpture, drawing, and installation. She consistently explores themes of nature, identity, dislocation, and the fragility of human existence. Her work often features abstracted human figures in motion, set within ambiguous landscapes, challenging viewers to confront universal aspects of the human condition.
