款識:雲東逸史姚綬寫
鈐印:「姚公綬印」「雲東」
Yao Shou 姚綬 (1422–1495) was a scholar-artist renowned for his calligraphy, which was deeply influenced by the styles of the Wei and Jin dynasties. His script combined strength with elegance, embodying both refinement and expressive grace. Primarily a landscape painter, he also occasionally depicted bamboo and rocks with a natural ease and charm.
See a related 'bamboo and rock' scroll painting by Yao Shou, Ming dynasty, in the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing (acc.no.新00146549). See also a related landscape and calligraphy handscroll with the signature of Yao Shou which was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 2 December 2023, lot 816.
