Micheline Muselli Pozzo di Borgo Lerner was as brilliant as she was beautiful. Born into an old aristocratic family on the island of Corsica, she quickly distinguished herself academically, entering law school in Paris at just 18. By 20, she had made history as France's youngest attorney.
During the German occupation, she became a formidable criminal defense lawyer and a quiet force in the French Resistance. Alongside a select group of lawyers and magistrates, she skillfully manipulated Vichy regime laws to save countless lives. Her work was fraught with danger—arrested multiple times, she witnessed her mentor, Maître Joseph Python, captured, tortured, and executed for his Resistance efforts.
In 1957, while on assignment in New York, she met and married celebrated playwright and lyricist Alan Jay Lerner, the three-time Oscar-winning author of My Fair Lady, Gigi, Brigadoon, An American in Paris, and Camelot. Together, they epitomized glamour, living a life as dazzling as the stories he brought to the stage.
