An early Western Great Lakes/Eastern Plains wood pipe

Composed of a maple wood stem of expanding rectangular section, finely incised on each side with a series of three radiating medallions, resembling the classic "feather-circle" design, the alternating fields with abstract foliate elements, set into a wood pipe, decorated with lead inlay and surmounted by an effigy carved in the form of a buffalo, a dark brown pigment overall, mounted on a custom metal stand.
lg. with pipe 42 in.
