3 volumes. 8vo (193 x 116 mm). Engraved frontispiece in volume I, 17 maps and plates (most folding), 1 p publisher's advertisements at front of volume II. Paneled calf, antique. Scattered browning and spotting, a few marginal tears.
Provenance: Property from a New England Collector.

A collection of transcriptions of addresses given before the Royal Society, published as a set of three volumes. The topics covered include the tides, wind, light, magnetism, acoustics, metallurgy, astronomy, archeology, and especially mathematics. Most of the addresses contained in this work were made by Edmond Halley, but there are also contributions by Martin Lister, John Monro, William Hallifax, and others. The third volume contains a three-part account of a voyage to Virginia by botanist John Clayton.
