FOUR INLAID IRON TSUBA

Edo period (1615-1868), 17th/18th century
Comprising an iron mokkō tsuba chiseled in relief and with details in gold and silver depicting a seascape with figures, a bridge, a boat, and birds,unsigned;
an oval iron Sōten tsuba pierced and chiseled in the round and with details in gold and copper depicting Chōryō recovering Kōsekikō's shoe from a dragon, signed Sōten with a kaō;
an oval iron tsuba with a slightly hammered-up rim, chiseled in relief and with details in gold, silver, and shakudō, depicting a scene from Hashihime (The Divine Princess at Uji Bridge), Chapter 45 of Genji monogatari (The Tale of Genji): on one side Prince Kaoru on horseback, an attendant squatting before him by a rustic gateway with autumn plants, on the other side the Princess playing the koto by moonlight;
and an irregular oval iron tsuba, the surface roughly hammered and chiseled in relief with details in gold and silver depicting the Three Sake Tasters: Buddha, Confucius, and Laozi by a large vat of liquor
Each with a wood storage box
