Captain Nicholas Eaton, Mayor of Dover, was the father of Mary Eaton, who married Thomas Monins, father of John, William and Richard (aka Eaton). The latter (who died in 1770) took the name Eaton at the request of his cousin, Peter Eaton of Woodford in Essex and became Rector of Charlton and Ringwould on the death of his father.
