De lo schermo overo scienza d'arme, 2 parts in 1 vol., FIRST EDITION, engraved title within wide architectural border, with full-page arms on verso, second title (with same border design, and letterpress title "Sienza e practica d'arme..." inserted), full-page engraved portrait plates of Christian IV of Denmark and the author, 191 large engraved illustrations (all but one depicting naked fencers demonstrating positions, 2 pasted on as cancels), 2 or 3 marginal damp-spots to opening leaves, ink splash on 2 pages touching letters, a few pages toned, later marbled boards, red gilt morocco spine label, rubbed [Cockle 754; Thimms, p.97], folio (332 x 230mm.), Copenhagen, Henricus Waltkirck, 1606

First edition, complete with both title and both portraits, of an influential and handsomely illustrated fencing manual by Salvator Fabris, Christian IV's fencing master. It is the first book printed in Denmark illustrated with copper engravings.
