The diamond jewellery house of William Goldberg was founded in 1952. Throughout the last 75+ years, the firm has established itself as an important purveyor of fine and rare gemstones, acquiring several large faceted gems and important rough specimens, including; the 136.25 carat Queen of Holland diamond; the 137.02 carat D, Flawless pear-shaped 'Premier Rose' diamond, and a large red diamond rough, polishing it to the 5.11 carat triangular brilliant-cut 'Red Shield', the largest red diamond ever graded by the GIA (it was subsequently re-named the 'Moussaieff Red Diamond'). In 1999, the Goldberg family introduced its patented Ashoka diamond cut, of which Boodles are the only British jeweller to offer in their collection.
