N.B.
Cornelis van Poelenburgh's Paysage aux cinq baigneuses, upon which the present work is based, is held at the Musée du Louvre in Paris (INV 1697; MR 918). Since the present work features the reverse of the original composition, it was likely based on a print of Poelenburgh's painting - possibly the one by Jacques-Philippe Le Bas (1707-1783) at the British Museum (1861, 1109.232).
This work has been examined via digital images by the Netherlands Institute for Art History (RKD).
