This work was examined via digital images by the Netherlands Institute for Art History (RKD) in 2023. Although the painting bears a presentation plaque naming the artist Bartholomeus van Bassen (Dutch, C. 1590 - 1652), RKD scholars believe the painting to be by an unknown follower of Pieter Neefs I and Pieter Neefs II, based on their depictions of Antwerp Cathedral.
