The son of an architect, Stefan Ittar, Sebastiano moved, with his father to Malta, where the pair worked on the Library of Valetta. After his father's death in 1790, Sebastiano then moved to Rome. He is perhaps best known as one of the architects employed by Thomas Bruce, 7th Earl of Elgin in the very early 19th century to take measurements and make drawings of the ancient buildings in Athens.
