The Sanderson camera range was among the most enduring British camera designs in production from 1895 to the mid-20th century. The Sanderson patent described a strut system which moved the camera back and forth to any desired fixed angle, and was granted in January 1895. Although Sanderson originally sold the camera, Houghtons Ltd later acquired the rights and marketed the camera exclusively from then on. In the early 20th century, the model was promoted as the 'greatest advance yet made in camera construction'.
Please note that the cataloguing should read 'A Houghtons Ltd Sanderson Quarter-Plate Tropical Hand and Stand Camera', not as previously catalogued.
