Patek Phillipe presented the world with its first Perpetual Calendar wristwatch in 1925. In 1962, Patek Philippe released Reference 3448, an automatic Perpetual Calendar wristwatch, and the popularity and demand for such style drastically increased after the release. Reference 3448 is one of the most elegant and wearable Patek Philippe timepieces. The simplicity of a Calatrava meets the complications of a Perpetual Calendar. For Reference 3448, there were only 589 examples made including 450 pieces in yellow gold, and the production of the watch ended in 1981.
The watch is fitted with a patented Patek Philippe 27-460Q calibre. The perpetual calendar is elegantly presented in a 37mm, Antoine Gerlach designed case with lugs unlike anything designed at that period. They are angular and sharp, and give off a crisp, clean vibe that helped make the watch an instant classic.
