An original Scream "Ghostface" mask
Footnotes
In Scream, two different types of masks were used. When scouting for locations only a few weeks before filming began, location scout Marianne Maddalena found a Ghostface mask apparently in a garage. This mask was manufactured by a company called Fun World and, whilst waiting for approval from Fun World to use their masks, Garrett Immel, Special Makeup Effects Artist at KNB Effects Group, made some copies of the Fun World mask to be used in filming. The two masks differ slightly, with the KNB Masks having a smaller mouth than the more elongated one on the Fun World masks. The mask being offered in this lot is the KNB Effects version whilst the lot being offered in the previous lot is a mask made by Fun World. All the scenes involving Principal Himbry at Woodsboro High, which end in the killing of Himbry, used the KNB masks because those scenes were filmed early on in the production whilst permission was being sought from Fun World. Although this particular scene was shot several times, using a few different masks, this cut up mask is believed to be the mask that is seen on screen in the movie.
Bonhams would like to thank Ryan Hills of www.scream-thrillogy.com for his help in the cataloguing of these masks.
"I bet we shot this scene five or six times from different angles. I cut up several masks and the prop department presented me with this one after filming." - Henry Winkler
