Footnotes
Night Shift saw Winkler reunited with Ron Howard, this time with Howard directing his first feature film. This comedy stars Winkler as former financier Chuck Lumley who has escaped the rat race to work the night shift at a New York City morgue. Winkler won his second Golden Globe® nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture for the role. Winkler first wears the jacket during the scene where Bill (Michael Keaton) and Chuck gather all the girls together to propose a new business deal, and again later on after they get out of jail and meet with their attorney, Drollhauser, and in the following scenes at the club.
"Night Shift is still a very funny film. Ron Howard asked me to be in the movie and added, "You can play either part." Having just been the flamboyant Fonz for nine years, I thought, "I'm going to play Richie" so I chose the character Chuck. We decided he would wear tweed. One of the very last auditions of actors for the part of Billy Blaze was Michael Keaton. When Michael walked through the door the entire production was lit up." - Henry Winkler
