Footnotes

The present work shows a view of the Royal William Victualling Yard in Stonehouse, a suburb of Plymouth, England. It was a major victualling depot of the Royal Navy and made up a large portion of Devonport Dockyard. The main buildings were designed by the architect Sir John Rennie and was named after King William IV. Construction of the main buildings began in 1826 and was completed in 1835.
