Provenance:
From an Important Private Asian Collection. The previous owner was passionate about Chinese art, and well connected with political, commercial, art and literary circles. The painting was acquired about 30 years ago, and thence by descent.

註：大千一生愛寫荷花，而潑墨潑彩與芙蕖亦相得益彰，晚年大千的筆下，不論佈局排佈抑或色彩的掌控，俱已近化境。本幅寫菡萏一枝盛開，一枝含苞待放，似迎風而舞，婷婷裊裊，婀娜有致。荷葉全用淡墨與沈厚絢麗的石青勾些許石綠渲染而成，虛實相生，濃淡參差得宜，在金箋托襯下，瑰而雅，放佛可想見大千先生月夜當軒而坐，任暗香隨風灌滿衣襟，怡然自適的畫面。
