Please note the present painting is fully attributed to Giuseppe Zocchi (Florence 1711-1767). We are grateful to Laura Laureati for suggesting this attribution and also for bringing to our attention a pen and ink drawing by Giuseppe Zocchi, which belonged to Sir Horace Mann (1701-1786) that was offered at Sotheby’s London 11 July 1979, lot 182, and shows the Tiber and the Castel Sant’Angelo from the same viewpoint (see additional illustration).
